A Vote of Confidence : U.S. – ASEAN Economic Ties

Full text of Kirk Wagar’s speech is available here.

Synopsis:

The message from President Obama and Secretary Kerry is strong and clear – that U.S. foreign policy remains entrenched in following through on the rebalance towards the Asia-Pacific region.  U.S. economic, diplomatic, strategic, and people-to-people initiatives throughout ASEAN are stronger than ever.

The U.S. economy is inextricably linked to the economies in Asia.  By a wide margin, the U.S private sector is the largest investor in ASEAN and the thousands of American companies here are a force multiplier for the rebalance to Asia. This talk will delve into U.S economic engagement in ASEAN and how the U.S. presence in the region is increasingly critical to global growth.
