Through Olam's vast network across several developing economies (we have done business in 28 countries in the sub-Sahara, 8 countries in South Americas, 5 countries in the CIS, 5 in North Africas and about a dozen in the Middle East and in Asia) we have known policies and business environment in a pretty diversified group of developing nations and we will share our reflections on 'positive policy factors' from this experience. Separately, we have closely watched policy makers talk shop on conferences and read their statements to their constituencies and we have seen over the years what works and what doesn't work. The talk shall cover corporate level view on policies and their impact in developing countries and how these impact large and small corporates. For this talk, we will refer to some developmental economic theories but that is just ensure a just marriage between theory and practice of developmental policies.
