Developments in recent years with the rise of Asia make it necessary for Europe to shift its focus from a bi-polar perspective to a multi-polar one. This requires the need for a better understanding and comprehension of Asia, its history and diversity. It would be, however, a grave error to write off Europe as a continent of the "Past". On the contrary - it is the success story of the peaceful European integration which provides a convincing demonstration of vitality and dynamism, Europeans can still "think" and will continue to do so in years to come.
There is an undeniable need to learn from each other trough open minds and frank dialogues. The world has to be seen as one common heritage, where it is a responsibility for everyone to safeguard the world from forces of destruction for the benefit of future generations. We will have to develop a global vision for the welfare of humanity.
