Dealing with the Security Threat from Climate Change

Internationally, there is growing interest in non-traditional threats to security. The British Government's envoy for climate and energy security, Rear Admiral Neil Morisetti has been travelling globally to countries such as the US, Japan and Korea since his appointment in 2009. In his talk, he will examine how climate change is a ‘threat multiplier’ of regional and global stresses. He will explore what this means for national security interests, including global trade, and how such factors are highly relevant to Asia. He will also look at how militaries can respond to this issue, by changing their practices operationally, and pursuing increased international collaboration.
