Doha Round and the way forward: An Indian Perspective

Synopsis:

The Doha Development Round of talks commenced in November 2001 and was aimed at lowering trade barriers around the world. Talks have stalled on several issues - including agriculture, industrial tariffs and non-tariff barriers, services, and trade remedies - with differences among developed and developing nations. India has given primacy to engagements in multi lateral negotiations under WTO and wants an open, equitable, predictable, non-discriminatory international trading system.
