After some initial optimism at the beginning of the year, the global economy is starting to show signs of slowing down in the second half of 2012. Dr.Denis Hew, Director of the policy Support Unit of the APEC Secretariat, will provide an assessment on growth prospects for the Asia-Pacific region in 2012 and 2013 and highlight some potential challenges facing the region. In particular, he will discuss implications for firms and businesses in APEC economies if sovereign and banking challenges in the Euro Area were to deteriorate further. He will also shed light on policy options for the region to lead global recovery and meet the multiple challenges of forming a strategy to support sustainable growth.
