We all live in a global village. We depend on each other for our prosperity and security, and for our food and energy supplies. Jan Peter Balkenende believes that we should be debating not the global shift of power but rather the global sharing of power. Asia's vigour and economic potential are undisputed, but no one should underestimate Europe's dynamism and adaptability. In his lecture, Professor Balkenende will address three themes: (1) Europe's innovative, high-value economy and the stability of the euro (2) the importance of the moral component and core values, and (3) the need to re-think global governance.
