Nation Building Through Sports For All

Nation building through sport for all in multi-racial Malaysia is a key agenda because sport breaks down all barriers to unite the nation. The Government’s support is tremendous as it realises that this is the path to take. After all, sport is a common factor among all, no matter what race, creed or religion. Sport for all is also the foundation for excellence in the sports arena and Malaysia’s success in the international field is a testimony to a plan that is working for the nation. Sport is not gender-biased and advocating the participation of women in sport in a Muslim country like Malaysia has made us a great example for Islamic nations. The emphasis on sport for all, community sport, women’s sport, sport for the physically challenged and excellent performance, backed by a sports policy and Government support, is the key element in nation building. Our recent 1Malaysia campaign has always been part and parcel of sport.
