President Obama and the continuing struggle for Health Reform in the United States

Synopsis:

Under the leadership of President Obama, the U.S. is engaged in a major effort to reform its health care system. Legislation was enacted by the U.S. Congress in March of 2010, but it will take several years to implement the new health reform law.

Professor Harris will elaborate on the continuing struggle for health reform in the U.S., including:
• The context for U.S. health reform
• The goals of reform and different methods of meeting those goals
• The new federal law and challenges to that law
• Impact of U.S. health reforms on other countries in the global community
