Reinventing Fire

Synopsis:

"Reinventing Fire" shows how to run a 2.6x-bigger US economy in 2050 with no oil, no coal. no nuclear energy, one-third less natural gas, and a $5-trillion lower net-present-value private internal cost than business-as-usual-the transition requiring no new inventions and no Act of Congress, but led by business for profit. To get this result, we integrate all four energy-using sectors-transport, buildings, industry, and electricity-and four kinds of innovation; not just the usual two (technology and public policy) but also two more powerful ones normally neglected, namely design and business strategy. Essentially the same technologies, design integration, business models, and perhaps even public policies could be adapted to Singaporean conditions, probably yielding similarly encouraging results.
