Synopsis:

The continuous and growing prominence of non-state actors in world politics requires that we reconstruct fundamental paradigms of international relations away from purely state-centric foundations. Corporate actors and their supply chains, civil society groups that deliver public services, and social networks as authoritative voices all portend a deep systems change that requires us to re-think the institutional arrangements of global governance away from inter-state institutions alone towards new kinds of functional coalitions. Who are the new leaders – or governors? What are the best examples of this radically decentralized new global governance?
