The United Nations Convention against Corruption and Corruption Prevention

Synopsis:

The United Nations Convention against Corruption has over 160 signatories, yet corruption is rampant in many countries. Do we know how much corruption there is? Do we know how it is distributed? Do we know how to prevent it? Are solutions global or local?

This presentation discuss these questions and will focus on prevention, and examine how issues such as conflict of interest, codes of ethics, asset declarations for public officials, public procurement, and public awareness campaigns (all of which are in the UNCAC) are used as corruption prevention mechanisms in different countries.
