Dr Alex Tan is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Policy Studies. He studies and applies mathematical modelling, including statistical, data mining, and machine learning techniques to analyse and “optimise” economic policy in Singapore. Previously, Alex was an Assistant Professor at the University of Western Australia and Research Associate and Lecturer at the Singapore Management University . He has a Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, and Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics and Computer Information Systems from the State University of New York.
