Lunch with United States Ambassador Kirk Wagar on "US-Singapore Bilateral Relations"


US President Barack Obama’s rebalancing policy has sought to expand the American political, economic and military presence in the Asia-Pacific region. In a closed-door discussion with IPS Corporate Associates, US Ambassador Kirk Wagar will reflect on the progress of this policy initiative. In particular, he will discuss the quality of bilateral ties between Singapore and the US, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, and the importance of ASEAN to US foreign relations. AMB Kirk Wagar_135 x 150Ambassador Kirk WAGAR was sworn in as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Singapore on September 4, 2013. He served in two capacities at the Export Import Bank of the United States – Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee (2010); Advisory Committee (2011, 2012). Ambassador Wagar served as the Florida Finance Chair for President Obama from January 2007 until 2012 and served as the Florida Finance Chairman of the Democratic National Committee for John Kerry’s Campaign (2004). He also served as a Trustee of the Inaugural Committee in both 2009 and 2013. He was a member on the Board for the American Association for Justice (2002 – 2013) and a member of the Board for the Florida Justice Association (1997 – 2013). Ambassador Wagar served on the Board of Directors of the National Collegiate Conference Association (parent of the NMUN and an NGO of the United Nations) from 1994-1998. He was Managing Partner of Wagar Law, a Miami-based law firm that represents in contract and insurance litigation. Ambassador Wagar received a B.A. from Roberts Wesleyan College and a J.D. from the University of Miami.
