Press briefing on the IPS Working Paper Religiosity and the Management of Religious Harmony: Responses from the IPS Survey on Race, Religion and Language

Synopsis:

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) will publish a Working Paper titled Religiosity and the Management of Religious Harmony: Responses from the IPS Survey on Race, Religion and Language on 17 June 2014 on its website. The Working Paper contains previously unreleased findings from the IPS Survey on Race, Religion and Language*. Members of the press are invited to a briefing on the paper, where its lead author, IPS Senior Research Fellow Mathew Mathews, will discuss the various dimensions of Singaporeans’ beliefs, attitudes and practices of religion based on the survey data. He will then respond to questions from journalists. The contents of the IPS Working Paper, and the proceedings of the media briefing will be embargoed until 2.00 pm on Tuesday, 17 June 2014. * The Institute of Policy Studies conducted a survey of over 4,000 Singapore residents aged 18 and over between December 2012 and April 2013. Findings from this survey – titled the IPS Survey on Race, Religion and Language – have been released in tranches since the third quarter of 2013. The survey findings on race and identity were presented at the following events – the Forum on Indicators of Racial and Religious Harmony and Singapore Perspectives 2014.
