The Sixth Singapore Economic Roundtable

The Sixth Singapore Economic Roundtable includes: recent macroeconomic developments in Singapore, by Edward Robinson, Executive Director, Economic Policy Department, Monetary Authority of Singapore; Singapore: A Cooler Place, by Chua Hak Bin, Senior Regional Economists, Economic-market Research, DBS Bank Ltd; and Unexplored Synergies in Malaysia-Singapore Relations: The Way Forward, by Dr R. Thillainathan, Past President, Malaysian Economics Association. The Sixth Singapore Economic Roundtable explores how Singaporeans think and do business, and touches on issues such as: various demands in Singapore’s economy; the competitive strengths of Singapore and Malaysia; the different mindsets of people in Singapore and Malaysia; and possible ways of exploring new synergies between Singapore and Malaysia. One question thrown up for discussion at the Roundtable is how can Singapore and Malaysia combine forces to ensure each other’s survival in the global marketplace? This sixth Roundtable takes a look at our relationship with our neighbour and offers suggestions on improving it.
