Research Assistant (Economics & Business) (Two-Year Contract)

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is a policy research think-tank in the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS is looking to hire a Research Assistant (Economics & Business). This individual will report to the IPS Senior Research Fellow who manages the Economic & Business research cluster. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to acquire critical research skills and domain knowledge as well as benefit from exposure to intellectual exchange and networking.

The job scope includes:

  • Tracking research developments
  • Compiling and archiving research materials
  • Managing book and research projects
  • Writing papers and reports of events, copyediting and proof-reading and outlining presentations
  • Undertaking administrative duties such as managing correspondence, coordinating meetings and liaising with various stakeholders in conjunction with the Head of the Economics & Business research cluster

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate an interest in the macroeconomics, competitiveness of Singapore’s economic development, and their social impact on society
  • Possess strong analytical skills and an aptitude for quantitative research
  • Be initiative and familiarity with the process of information gathering
  • Be committed to meeting tight deadlines and hold a track record of producing work which reflects a maturity of thought
  • Hold at least a Bachelor’s degree preferably in but not limited to Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Studies, Marketing and Social Science disciplines.

What you can expect from the job:

The RA will have the opportunity to work in a research team which examines business and economic issues which impacts on various stakeholders in society. Researchers in the team work on a variety of projects initiated by the Institute, government and the non-profit sector using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The RA will be able to engage in a number of research projects, co-author articles, books and reports with other members of the research team and contribute to the thinking on current and pertinent issues.

This job will be beneficial for a fresh graduate or an individual with limited working experience, who is seeking to develop a career in the fields of public policy, finance, corporate or the social sciences.
