IWP researchers speak at Singapore Armed Forces' launch of CSS Green Campaign

The Singapore Armed Forces’ Combat Service Support Command (CSSCOM) launched the CSS Green Campaign (CGC) 2017 on 10 August 2017 at Kranji Camp III. The guest speakers at the launch included:

Prof. Asit K. Biswas, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, on environmental degradation and climate change;

Dr. Cecilia Tortajada, Institute of Water Policy, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, on impacts of climate change on global security;

Assoc. Prof. Kim Irvine, from National Institute of Education (NIE), on climate change and water security in Singapore; and,

Mr. Toh Wee Khiang, Programme Director at the Nanyang Technological University’s Energy Research Institute, on climate change and Singapore’s security.

The campaign aims to encourage CSS personnel to adopt measures to conserve the environment. Through the presentations at the launch, CGC intends to provide CSS personnel with a better understanding of how climate change and environmental degradation can affect national security.

Over 400 participants took part in the launch, including senior officers, Full-time Army personnel, and Full-Time National Servicemen.
